Weekly Reflection (Week 6)

The presentation continues on week six during Monday class with another five presenter left to present on their topics. The five presenter left were, Amirah, Farah, Mazni, Atikah and Farhana with their topic which were about, lie detection, tryphobia, Barbie, the weirdest marriage and amazing facts about human brain.

What I found really interesting about Amirah’s topic on lie detection was that; lying can actually make you smarter because scientist says that liars have stronger brain matter due to the fact that they can make up story on the fly which does not connected to reality. During Farah’s presentation on the topic of trypophobia; it is said that it is the condition where a person fear of tiny holes that grouping together. But according to her, this disease can be cured by some therapy such as cognitive or behaviour therapy. Next, from Mazni’s presentation that I finally know that Barbie doll’s full name is Barbara Milicent and it official birthday is on March 1950. Meanwhile, Atikah presented about the weirdest marriage and for me the weirdest amongst all weirdest marriage was when a Thailand guy married to his dead girlfriend. Finally, from Farhana’s presentation on amazing facts about human brain, I learned that human brain does not have any receptor.

On 2 hours class on Wednesday, we have started with our second assessment which is web advertisement. Miss Amreet showed us the platform that we can use to design our websites. For this second assessment, we need to develop a 30-second Web-based advertisement to promote the Diploma in English programme offered in Sultan Idris Education University. The advertisement should promote this programme of study so that it will become attractive to potential students. Therefore my pair, Munirah and I decided to use wix.com for our website as it is the most preferable tools compared to other software.

Weekly Reflection (Week 5)

The presentation continues during week five. During the one hour class, we able to finish with three presentations by Norain, Hamidah and Jasmin which are about room colour, shadow puppetry and Korean’s traditional games. During Norain’s presentation on room colour and how it affects your mood, we found a lot on why certain colour is suitable and is not suitable for certain room. Because it is said that colour has sort of influence towards you. In simpler word, it means that your mood will depend on the colour scheme of the room. Meanwhile, during Hamidah’s presentation on shadow puppetry, I learned that this art is not originally based in Malaysia, I also found the story behind the invention of this shadow puppetry. For the third presentation on that day, I found it was very interesting because it was related to traditional Korean games. Jasmin told us three famous games and the one game that captured my attention the most was Ttakji. This is due to the fact that I know the game through watching the famous Korea’s variety show, Running Man.

On Wednesday, during the two hours class, we managed to listen from another nine presenters which were, Nabilah Izzati, Lyana, Nabilah, Munirah, Grace, Mariana, Nabila Izzati, Nazifah and Zarwani. The topic that had been presented were, why Japanese people live longer, famous Korean foods, Sports, Deja Vu, water birth, Titanic, four seasons, rainbow, and plastic surgery.

During Nabilah Izzati presentation, I found it was very interesting to learn on why Japanese live so long. These people are very meticulous in choosing the meal which they are going to eat every day. So much thought they give in choosing the food in order to live longer. For example, they prefer fish instead of meat, and most Japanese are lactose-intolerant, thus they cannot consume a lot of dairy products. Next, during Lyana presentation on famous Korean food, I learned on how to cook some of the meal. Meanwhile, we were not that surprise with the topic that Nabilah have chose which was about sports. Because all of us know the fact that she is an athlete. She showed us the history of sports, famous in the country and overseas athletes and presented about benefit of sports.

Next, Munirah’s presentation on Deja Vu topic, I also found it was quite interesting. She told us why we had Deja Vu and actually Deja Vu is still an unsolved mystery of the brain but what she can conclude is that it is all related to the memory inside us. Nabila Izzati presented about the four seasons and how the seasons changed according to the month. I learned some new facts about rainbow from Nazifah’s presentation such as; the size of the rainbow is actually a round shape and not half like what we usually see. After that, Mariana presented on the history of the Titanic, how it crashed with an iceberg and why there were so many passengers and crews died from that accident and a lot more on facts of the tragedy of this famous ship.

During Zarwanie’s presentation on plastic surgery, she showed the rank of the country which has the higher percentage of the people who practise this plastic surgery. Not only that, she also showed the terrifying pictures of those who failed at their plastic surgery, like Michael Jackson. Finally, the last presenter for that day is Grace. She presented about water birth. She said there were actually a lot of pros and cons when it comes to this birth method such as the baby can easily out from his mother because of the position of the mother which is; the mother is sitting, thus the gravity will help it a lot. But for the cons, the surrounding might be a bit dirty, but she said that she decided to give birth in this way in the future and that is why she presented this topic to us.

Weekly Reflection (Week 4)

Prezi Presentation has started this week. The theme for this assessment is informative presentation. Hence, during my friends’ presentation, I have gained a lot of new knowledge. During the 1 hour class, we managed to listen to three presentations which are about; types of skin, misai kucing, and music by my friends, Aminah, Rosmariah and Liyana. From Aminah’s presentation, I learned on how to take a good care of my skin according to my type of skin and from her presentation, now I know how to make my own masker by using yogurt. Next, during Rosmariah’s presentation, I learned that ‘misai kucing’ leaves are full with nutrients. Moreover, it is good for many things, such as digestion problem and kidney stone. Meanwhile, for the final presentation for that day by Liyana, I learned how music can describe our personalities. How slow or heavy metal music define half of us. Not only that, with music, old folks who has become passive due to their age; react or gave their feedbacks when they listen to the music.

Meanwhile, during Wednesday’s class which was two periods (2 hours), we managed to listen to eight presentations, and I was the second volunteer for that day. The eight topics for that day were about tears, bucket list, lipsticks, Mount Everest, Mimosa Pudica, psychology, MH370 and high heels by my friends, Asma’, Anis, Nadhirah, Rosnita, Syakirah, Fatin, and Norizatul. During Asma’ presentation on the topic ‘Tears’, I learned some new facts. Firstly, if the tears flow from your left eyes, it indicates that you are crying because of the pain that you feel inside, while if the tears flow from your right side, it indicates that you are crying due to the happiness you feel inside of you. One more thing, there is no flowing out of tear when a baby is crying until he or she reach certain age. During the lipsticks presentation by Anis, I learned on how to choose my lipsticks colour according to my skin tone. She said to me that I have a cool medium skin colour, therefore I must use medium colour which are not too dark and not too light. During her presentation, I also learned to make my lipsticks stays a lot longer; which is by put tissue in between your lips and pressed it but not so much. This way, the lipstick will be even.

For the Mt. Everest presentation by Nadhirah, firstly, she showed some great stuff about this tallest mountain, but then, she started warning us to not be deceived over the exciting things people usually told about this mountain because there are a dark side and dangerous is waiting for you when you reach at certain point of hiking this Everest. Next, Mimosa Pudica or touch me not or pokok semalu is what Rosnita presented to us. This leaves will appeared to be ‘closed’ when its touch by something. This is due to the turgor pressure inside it. Meanwhile, during Syakirah’s presentation on psychology, I learned that how one person can affect your mood and they way you feel once you see them in front of you. After that, for the topic MH370 presented by Fatin is actually quite a latest issue and all of us learned a bit more on the progress of searching the missing plane. Finally, the final presentation of that day was by Norizatul, and her topic was about high heels. From her, we learned on how to differentiate types of high heel such as wedges and stiletto. Moreover, we also learned on how to walk correctly with high heels in order to prevent back pain.

Weekly Reflection (Week 3)

Due to there was no internet connection during Monday’s class, so Miss Amreet was unable to start with our personal blog workshop. Therefore, Miss Amreet started lecture on the topic on why we need to blog. I found there were many reasons on why we blog. Whether the reason is to share with everyone what we have learnt in life or to write about something in blog and then, re-read it when you started missing the memories, it is all about sharing and creating memories.

On the other hand, on Wednesday we started with the personal blog workshop. We learned how to sign up, choosing the template and posting a new update. Most of us prefer to us blogger.com rather than other platform such as wordpress and tumblr because blogger is more user-friendly and convenient for beginner like us.

Weekly Reflection (Week 2)

Miss Amreet had assigned us to find several topics for our first assignment, which is Prezi Presentation. Hence, we need to find several topics and must get her approval before Wednesday. There were two topics which has stucked in my head which were, bucket list and Palestine. After giving it a lot of thoughts, I finally decided to go with ‘bucket list’ as it is more easy and convenient for me talk in front of the class.

On Monday, I got immediate approval from Miss Amreet after showing my draft. On Wednesday, Miss Amreet started with our Prezi workshop and because of all of us have basic in using Prezi, thus Miss Amreet asked us to immediately starts doing the slides and being a researcher and expert for the topic that we have chosen.

Weekly Reflection (Week 1)

I still remember the first time I read the Instructional Plan (RI) for this course, Writing for the Multimedia and Web four days before entering my fourth semester. The number one thing which crossed through my mind after reading the RI was, the word ‘again?’. We need to make a short video for our coursework and it made me a little bit scared at first. This is due to the fact that I am not a strong video editor, and the thought of having to go through that process all over again is overwhelming for me to handle for the third time.

I was excited to meet my instructor for this course despite the terrifying assignment that I must go through in the future. But, when Miss Amreet entered the class and introduced herself as an instructor for this subject, I feel glad. Because I think, we will be in ‘good hands’. After Miss Amreet introduced herself in front of the entire class and a little bit on her background information, then it was our turn to introduce ourselves to her. But before that, she politely asked us to think and to brainstorm on what are our hopes and expectations for this subject.

My hope and expectation is simple which is to learn more on multimedia and web. I will not put high expectation neither to the lecturer nor the course because from my own perspective, 14 weeks which will be provided for us to learn from this course is not going to do a lot for us. Hence, better to get your hopes low and gain more.

After all of us had finished introduced ourselves, then Miss Amreet gave a short briefing on what we will learn throughout these 14 weeks. I was happy when I saw that the RI is different from what I have read in the MyGuru. Only then I know that Miss Amreet has prepared another new RI for this course hence there will no filming video for this coursework.

My Friends

You know, your life will mean something when there’s someone besides your family that you can place your trust on and believe that there will always there to catch you when you about to fall. I have found mine and for that, all praise is to the Almighty. They have been there with me throughout this entire time. Firstly, there are my friends since secondary school and secondly are my friends in UPSI.

CRAFNE is what we name our group of nine members. We have been together through ups and downs since we were in form one. All nine of us have different attitude that somehow makes us able to tolerate with each others’ ‘madness’. Nawwarah, Naiemah, Shaidatul, Fitriyana, Fatin, Farah, Amy, Aisyah and I. We are like siblings, because we fought like one, and we cannot stay mad at each other for so long and we end up laughing after realizing how naive we were.

2012

Form 3 :)

      19 (2014)

Graduation Day (2012)

Well, quite frankly same goes to my friends in UPSI. We cannot stay mad at each other for so long. Here, my classmates are also my friends; we have been together and understand each other since a year ago. From one of my friend; he always said that a true friend is when you look at them, you immediately think of your Lord. It is true that I learn about friendship even more when I come here. One is, do not ever stop praying for each others’ goodness, love your friends and try your utmost best to forgive the person who has wronged you even it’s hard because to hate someone over one small messed up they did over many good deeds they’ve done to you; is just plainly immature. To list all of their names are way too many I think, but one thing they need to know is that, I will always love them no matter what may happen in the future.

“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

My Family

Family is one of the many reasons why I stand so strong today. I consider myself having a not-so big family because we only have six members consist of my father, Mr Anuar Bin Ahmad, my mother, Mrs Nur Rashidiah Binti Halim. My three sisters, Nur Suzaini, Nur Suhada and Nur Syafiqah. Hence, it is obvious that I am the youngest in my family.

My father or I call him by the name of ‘Abah’ is at his 55 years of living. My father has been living in Selangor since he was born with his other seven siblings and both parents at a small village, call Kampung Sungai Merab Hulu, Kajang Selangor which is near Putrajaya and Bandar Baru Bangi. Actually it is still the same place where we live until today. My father has been giving his service to Universiti Putra Malaysia for more than 30 years. It was long before I even born to this world. Thus, my father is considered as senior at his workplace. He loves to play golf during his free time and we never blame him because a guy or a father still needs to have some hobbies right? Next, what I can describe about my father is that, he is such a discipline man. Growing up with him, I learnt that to be successful in your life, what you need to do first is to discipline yourself. I am glad for everything he had taught me because if not for his strictness, I would not turn out to be the person I am today. But, I am still learning though.

Please do not be deceived over my mother’s baby face because she is already 51 years old. My ‘mama’ used to live in Tanjung Pauh, Jitra Kedah before she ties the knot with my father in 1984 at the age of 21. My mother has a small family which is she has two siblings, a brother and a sister and both parents. My mother met with my father during their time at UPM. At that time, my mother was working and my father was studying there, so can you imagine how long my mother has been working in UPM? It was since 1982, thus 32 years to be exact. My mother is a very hardworking woman, but when she is not doing the house chores, you will find her relaxing in her room while reading books. Loving is another character that I can describe about my mother. She teaches us, siblings to be gentle, to work hard and be nice and generous to people. Through her, I learnt a lot just like what I have learned from my father.

“How many siblings do you have?”
Then, I would reply, “four”.
“All girls?”
“Yes, ALL girls”

From my perspective, I think it is fun having all girls in our sibling. The main reason why is that we can share our clothes. That is something thrifty don’t you think? My eldest sister, Nur Suzaini is now 29 years of age and currently expecting her first child with her husband. She had moved to Kemaman, Terengganu since last year to follow her husband who works there. For now, she is a housewife and if God is willing, she will back to work when the time is right. What I can describe about her is that, I think she has my father’s attitude; her strictness is what I mean. I think it goes also to my second sister, Nur Suhada. She is 25 years old and I really impress by her work ethic. She is a very hardworking worker but not a workaholic person and I think Honda Global Amity Company is so lucky to have her working there. For my third sister, Nur Syafiqah, she is now a degree student at Universiti Teknologi Mara Puncak Perdana, Shah Alam Selangor and she will start her practical next year which is same with me. Despite she is now 22 years of age, but sometimes I feel like I am older than her and she is somehow like my younger sister. She is quiet, not so much words coming out from her mouth so what I can conclude that my personality is beyond different than her and that is why we always quarrel with each other.

All in all, I love my family. I will not trade them for anything and to be perfectly honest, we are not perfect but I hope and I pray to The Almighty that we will continue being such loving family and helping each other until the end of our time.
