Family
is one of the many reasons why I stand so strong today. I consider myself
having a not-so big family because we only have six members consist of my
father, Mr Anuar Bin Ahmad, my mother, Mrs Nur Rashidiah Binti Halim. My three
sisters, Nur Suzaini, Nur Suhada and Nur Syafiqah. Hence, it is obvious that I
am the youngest in my family.
My
father or I call him by the name of ‘Abah’
is at his 55 years of living. My father has been living in Selangor since he
was born with his other seven siblings and both parents at a small village,
call Kampung Sungai Merab Hulu, Kajang Selangor which is near Putrajaya and
Bandar Baru Bangi. Actually it is still the same place where we live until
today. My father has been giving his service to Universiti Putra Malaysia for
more than 30 years. It was long before I even born to this world. Thus, my
father is considered as senior at his workplace. He loves to play golf during
his free time and we never blame him because a guy or a father still needs to
have some hobbies right? Next, what I can describe about my father is that, he
is such a discipline man. Growing up with him, I learnt that to be successful
in your life, what you need to do first is to discipline yourself. I am glad
for everything he had taught me because if not for his strictness, I would not
turn out to be the person I am today. But, I am still learning though.
Please
do not be deceived over my mother’s baby face because she is already 51 years
old. My ‘mama’ used to live in
Tanjung Pauh, Jitra Kedah before she ties the knot with my father in 1984 at
the age of 21. My mother has a small family which is she has two siblings, a
brother and a sister and both parents. My mother met with my father during
their time at UPM. At that time, my mother was working and my father was
studying there, so can you imagine how long my mother has been working in UPM?
It was since 1982, thus 32 years to be exact. My mother is a very hardworking
woman, but when she is not doing the house chores, you will find her relaxing
in her room while reading books. Loving is another character that I can
describe about my mother. She teaches us, siblings to be gentle, to work hard
and be nice and generous to people. Through her, I learnt a lot just like what
I have learned from my father.
“How
many siblings do you have?”
Then,
I would reply, “four”.
“All
girls?”
“Yes,
ALL girls”
From
my perspective, I think it is fun having all girls in our sibling. The main
reason why is that we can share our clothes. That is something thrifty don’t
you think? My eldest sister, Nur Suzaini is now 29 years of age and currently
expecting her first child with her husband. She had moved to Kemaman,
Terengganu since last year to follow her husband who works there. For now, she
is a housewife and if God is willing, she will back to work when the time is
right. What I can describe about her is that, I think she has my father’s attitude;
her strictness is what I mean. I think it goes also to my second sister, Nur
Suhada. She is 25 years old and I really impress by her work ethic. She is a
very hardworking worker but not a workaholic person and I think Honda Global
Amity Company is so lucky to have her working there. For my third sister, Nur
Syafiqah, she is now a degree student at Universiti Teknologi Mara Puncak Perdana,
Shah Alam Selangor and she will start her practical next year which is same
with me. Despite she is now 22 years of age, but sometimes I feel like I am
older than her and she is somehow like my younger sister. She is quiet, not so
much words coming out from her mouth so what I can conclude that my personality
is beyond different than her and that is why we always quarrel with each other.
All
in all, I love my family. I will not trade them for anything and to be
perfectly honest, we are not perfect but I hope and I pray to The Almighty that
we will continue being such loving family and helping each other until the end
of our time.
